You may not see it now, but high school is awesome. It is an amazing precursor to the best years of your life—college. Many kids are quick to take their hometown for granted, and I am happy to say that I was not one of those kids.
Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, I knew from a young age that I was in one of the greatest places in the world. So when I left home to go to Jacksonville, I was blasted with the reality that I could not be living it up in my fantastic stomping grounds.
What I am getting at is that you must live your high school years to the fullest because they only last for so long. Love your family, love your friends, and most importantly, say yes to new experiences. You only have so long at home and it is easy to have a great time when you know a place so well.
For instance, when I make my way home this break, I look forward to boating, fishing, surfing, playing with my cats, spending time with my fam, and mostly having fun with the boys. Wherever you may be from is totally different story, I’m sure, but that does not mean you can’t appreciate where you live.
High school can be some of the best times of your life, and I am glad to have them under my belt. So I truly want to advise you to not take these years for granted. Work hard in school, tell your parents you love and appreciate them, and live life to the fullest. Go to that school event that you don't want to attend, ask that girl to the dance that you have been wanting to, study that extra hour to turn your B into an A, and have a great time. I know you can and I know you want to.
