Intramural Sports

When you go to college there are generally two type of people. The first type of person is the one who says they will use their free time to go to the gym and get in tip top shape. The second type of person also says that, except this person sits at home and eats Oreos while watching Netflix instead.

If you are anything like me, you are the second type of person. Although I am lazy about going to the gym, exercise is absolutely necessary for your health. Intramural sports is a great way to stay exercising while having fun. If you are the first type of person, then intramural sports is another fun way to stay in your tip top shape while having a great time.

Intramural sports are amazing because you get to meet loads of new people as well as play sports with your friends. Another great thing about intramural sports is that you usually can pick between a competitive and recreational league. So if you’re just looking to have some fun and exercise but you are not really the best of soccer players or can not shoot a basketball, then you can enjoy yourself more in the recreational league. On the other hand, if you like to have that competitiveness and want to take it a bit more seriously, you can join the competitive league where people generally are pretty good at whatever sport it is that you are playing.

Another very interesting thing about intramural sports is the amount of sports they have available. Here at UF, there are all the basics such as soccer, basketball, etc. but there are many other fun unique games as well. There is soccer golf, frisbee, floaty water polo, and a bunch of others. One might say that they can not commit to joining a league and play one game a week, but that is fine! Intramural sports offers both semester leagues as well as one day tournaments. So if you do not want to commit to a full semester, you can always join a day tournament and have a good time. With all the options there is bound to be something to interest you, and you get to have a great time with friends, all while burning off those Oreos.
